Star Wars Authentics is currently selling their remaining banners and nameplates from Star Wars Celebration (which you can purchase HERE.)
I simply don’t have the room in my home to display large pieces like these, but many members of the Star Wars Autograph News Facebook page do. Several members bid on and won banners and nameplates from Star War Authentics and were kind enough to share stories and images of their winnings with us.

I was drawn to the starwarsauthentics.com auctions because I saw it as a unique opportunity to take home a little bit more of Celebration from some of my favorite guests from the show. I have a few other pieces of autographed signage from past Celebrations and conventions, and thought the starting prices were reasonable.
I initially bid of six of he 26-inch signs, but was quickly outbid on Hayden Christensen, Ian McDiarmid and Ashley Eckstein. The other three I bid on were Forest Whitaker, Ahmed Best and Sam Witwer. I chose each of these for different reasons: 1.) Forest Whitaker – who wouldn’t want an autographed sign from an Academy Award winner?, 2.) Ahmed Best – His return to Celebration was so triumphant, I thought this would be a good one to have to relish in that experience, and 3.) Sam Witwer – For no other reason than he’s one of the coolest guys in the galaxy, and there were no bids on his sign up to the last day, so it felt like a steal.
As far as my plans to display the pieces go, I recently built a new home and am in the midst of plotting out an entirely new mini-museum of my Star Wars collection in the loft. In the vein of the collections at Rancho Obi-Wan in Petaluma, CA and the great Philip Wise in Texas, I have planned a series of high-end display cases and will be theming the contents of each case based on Celebrations, the films, the animated series, Disney Star Wars Weekends and a special podium case to house a small tribute to Carrie Fisher. I foresee these signs being framed and mounted around the forthcoming Celebration display case.
I haven’t participated in this type of auction before, so that was a new experience. The Star Wars Authentics site made bidding easy, as well as the ability to track your bid status and receive email updates if your status changed. Pretty sure I would do it again for the right items.

I learned about the auction when you and Graham interviewed Mark on the podcast after Celebration. I thought one of the banners would be a really cool thing to commemorate my and my husband’s first (and potentially only – we’re Midwesterners) Celebration. Plus we have very high ceilings in our basement where we are setting up a theater and displaying all of our nerd memorabilia, so a 7 ft tall banner would fit on the wall.
I waited until the last day of the auction (no need to start bidding things up early), and asked my husband what his favorite guest interaction was from Celebration, since I wanted my purchase to be meaningful and based on a good memory.
It was hard to decide since we had great experiences with everyone, but we settled on Brian Herring (BB-8). I’m a huge BB-8 fan to start with, and we had a great time talking with Brian at his table (he’s SUPER chatty and very happy to meet fans). Also, my husband was inspired by the droid builders to start his own BB-8 build sometime this year, another reason to bid on Brian’s banner.
Since there were no bids on it yet, I placed my bid with a few minutes to go and won with the minimum bid. We received our prize in the mail about a week later.

I was lucky enough to win the Hayden banner. The reason I got it was that I was a big prequel fan and i got to meet Hayden at celebration so i just thought it would be a cool piece to have from the show. I put my bid in the last five minutes and i was very surprised i did not get outbid.

I went for and won Ashley’s. She was just absolutely wonderful and I Love her signature.
