Official Pix has announced that they have not renewed their Star Wars license.  The announcement came late Wednesday morning via their Facebook page and website. Official Pix was the the first company to receive a Photograph and Autograph License for the Star Wars saga from Lucasfilm in 2005 (you can read more HERE.)  Official Pix has removed the option to purchase photos from thier on-line store but collectors can still order autographs from the site.  According to the report, when their current inventory has sold out they will no longer be able to sell licensed Star Wars photos or autographs.

The announcement in it's entirety…

"In July 2015, Official Pix elected not to renew its STAR WARS license. This means other than current inventory, Official Pix will no longer be able to sell licensed STAR WARS photos and STAR WARS autographed photos. If you have an unfilled order, it will be completed.

Official Pix still has other properties, and will continue to have great relationships with STAR WARS actors, but until another company acquires the license, if any, there won't be any new licensed photographs or autographs.

We'd like to sincerely THANK our many STAR WARS customers who have been with us since 2001."

Ben Stevens and Tracy Kelly at Star Wars Celebration Europe II

This announcement raises many questions for autograph collectors, especially in light of recent reports of Gwendoline Christie and Salo Gardner not being able to sign Star Wars: The Force Awakens photos at convention appearances.  Will the license go to another vendor, or will Disney handle things in-house?  How will this affect Star Wars Celebrations going forward? Hopefully we will have answers to these questions sooner than later.

Star Wars Autograph Collection would like to thank Ben Stevens and Philp Wise for all they've done for the Star Wars autograph collecting hobby since 2001 and all the people at Official Pix who have made collecting easy and fun, from Chris Wyman filling orders to all the Celebration volunteers, including Tracy Kelly, Mark Barbian, Doug Maulden-Locke, Tony Clemens, Brian Wachhaus and Monserrate Garcia, to name just a few. Your professionalism and helpfulness will always be appreciated.

Stay tuned to Star Wars Autograph Collection for all the latest developments on this story.
