We will not have to wait until casting announcents for Star Wars: Episode VII to learn if Mark Hamill will ever return to the franchise which made him famous.  He already has. 

The impact the Star Wars: The Clone Wars Lost Missions will have on the Saga will take years to fully digest. The gifts fans received from the makers of the show with these final 13 episodes were many and significant. Bringing Mark Hamill back to Star Wars was one of the more sentimential of those gifts.

Spolers are to follow, but first a quote from Dave Filoni from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars Press Conference during Celebration VI, which I covered from the front row.

“Mark is a huge talent, probably the icon of Star Wars. I wouldn’t ask Mark to be on the show until I had something really awesome and really special. I want to cast Mark in a way that is meaningful to him to come in and perform.  I’ve had some near misses where I thought ‘this is it’ then I backed off of it.  It’s on my mind.  It’s on my list of things to do.  It won’t  happen in Season Five but hopefully before it’s all said and done I will be abel to get Mark Hamill back into the Star Wars franchise.  It will be in a way that is unexpected, I will say that, out of respect for him.”
