Mark Hamill may have missed his first Celebration in over ten years but close to 100 lucky fans were still able to get the actor’s autograph.
Stories of people being handed Hamill’s autograph by an unidentified man buzzed throughout McCormick Place but few details emerged. That is until Hamill himself (no pun intended) took to Twitter to reveal the mystery.
“I couldn’t be part of @SW_Celebration this year, so I sent along a stack of autographed photos to be given to random fans.” said Hamill in his first tweet addressing the mysterious autographs. “Thanks to @ThatChrisA for handing them out & for sending some snapshots of their reactions.”
The previously unidentified man was Chris Argyropoulos, who has been a publicist for Lucasfilm for the past ten years.
Autographs were give to younger “UPFs” or “Ultra Passionate Fans” a term Hamill has coined to differentiate between those fans who seek his autograph for their love of Star Wars and his character Luke Skywalker versus those who do so solely to resell the autograph for a profit.
Hamill is hoping to receive photos from all the fans who received his autograph in Chicago. ” Wish I had more to share, so if you were among the 88 others who got one, send me your picture for my #UPF collection!”
