Betts has spoken to two publications recently regarding her anticpation for The Force Awaken's. On December 11th the Daily Record ran a piece titled "The Force Awakens: Scots gran who played ewok in Return of the Jedi can't wait for new Star Wars movie" You can read the piece in it's entirty HERE.
Betts explains that her part as an Ewok came as a dare from her then husband who had seen an advertisement looking for people who's height was 4'5". "“I’m that exactly" Betts told the Daily Record. "We had always had a giggle over my height because he’s 6ft 2ins tall! It was a bit of a dare so I went along to the studio and the next thing I was taken on as an Ewok. As quick as that."

Betts told the Daily Record of her time on the set of Jedi. "We filmed on this huge set at Elstree Studios, high off the ground, as Ewoks lived in a rainforest" she explained. “I filmed for five weeks and was paid £500 each week – which was a lot of money then.”
She worked hard for her money, as the Ewok costumes were very hot. "We had to wear a towelling tracksuit and foam padding and then the furry suit on top. Between shots they would blow cold air into our costumes to cool us down and we had to suck constantly on glucose sweets."
On December 17th Betts was also featured in a piece by ITV titled "Lockerbie woman who starred as an Ewok in 1983's Return of the Jedi eagerly awaits new Star Wars film." That piece can be read HERE.
Betts, now 55-years old and working for the Dryfemount Care Home, shared many good memories of her fellow actors from Jedi. "Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker, was a lovely person and very chatty" the told the Daily Record. His son was around the same age as my baby daughter and we often enjoyed a cup of tea together talking about our children." Betts went on to say that "Carrie Fisher, who was Princess Leia, was a lot of fun and Dave Prowse, who of course played Darth Vader, was brilliant."
She mentions one particular actor in both pieces. Warwick Davis, who played the lovable and brave Ewok "Wicket", was fondly remembered by Betts in both pieces.
"Warwick was only 14 at the time and we all made such a fuss of him because he was so young" she told the Daily Record. "He was a lovely boy and I am really proud that he has done so well for himself." She told ITV "He was lovely…everybody loved him because he not only played the part of an Ewok but he was also sometimes in R2D2."
