LUPITA NYONG’O AND GWENDOLINE CHRISTIE TO APPEAR IN STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

Starwars.com has announced actresses Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie are the latest additions to the Star Wars: Episode VII cast list.  You can read the announcement HERE.

Lupita Nyong’o became the first Kenyan to win an Oscar when she won Best Supporting Actress this year for her portrayal of Patsey in 12 Years A Slave..  She is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama.  Her father, Professor Anyang’ Nyong’o, is a senator in Kenya.

Gwendoline Christie plays Brienne of Tarth on the popular HBO drama Game of Thrones.  In addition to appearing in Episode VII, she will play Commander Lyme in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Parts 1 and 2. She is a 2005 graduate of the Drama Centre London and stands above many of her co-stars at 6’3″.

Starwars.com reminds us: Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.
