Collecting signed books is a very popular segment of the Star Wars autograph collecting community, but have you ever wondered how those book plates get signed? One Star Wars author has just given us a glimpse into the process.
Cavan Scott provided a wonderful behind-the-scenes look into his endeavor to sign 1,000 book plates for the signed edition of his upcoming Star War novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm.
Scott documented a bit of the process on his Instagram account (be sure to follow him HERE) and his newsletter, which can be found HERE.
His commentary is lighthearted and fun as he signs his way through the stacks of book plates and gets blisters, forgets what his signature looks like and goes through Sharpie after Sharpie.
Scott talked to Starwars.com back in December about The Rising Storm, which is the second adult novel in the High Republic series. “Writing a Star Wars novel is always an honor and this has been no different” says Scott. “It’s a responsibility I never take lightly, especially while opening up a new era in Star Wars storytelling such as the High Republic.”
The Rising Storm is not a direct sequel to the first High Republic adult novel, The Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule which was released January 5, 2021, but it will add to its events.
“It sees the Nihil taking their reign of terror to the next level, building on their appearances in Light of the Jedi and beyond,” Scott says. “Standing in their way this time are newly elevated Jedi Council member Stellan Gios, along with Padawan Bell Zettifar and an intriguing new character, the saber-for-hire Ty Yorrick who I’ve had a blast creating.”
Details on purchasing the signed edition of The Rising Storm have yet to be released, but Scott commented on social media that he thinks Del Rey will be announcing soon.
