WELCOME TO STAR WARS AUTOGRAPH NEWS

It is with great pleasure that I announce Star Wars Autograph Collection is now Star Wars Autograph News. When I started to tell close friends about the name change they all said the same thing; "That makes sense" and I whole-heartedly agree. I feel that it is a much better fit to what I am trying to accomplish with my site, and after four years it's now where I want it to be.

I created Star Wars Autograph Collection for the purpose of helping collectors find Star Wars autographs.  In addition to sharing news of countless Star Wars-related autograph signings and opportunities since then, I have covered over 50 conventions in five countries (US, Canada, Spain, UK and Germany), ten US States, and two Canadian providences.  I've attended four Star Wars Celebrations (V, VI, Essen and Anaheim), four New York Comic Cons (2012-2015), and wonderful Star Wars-themed conventions, such as Elstree Empire Day and Star Wars Fan Fun Day.  Providing coverage from conventions is one of the best parts of running this site.

I've added close to 500 autographs to my personal collection during that time, but that has never been what my site is about.  "Collection" never felt right to me, because it had very little to do with my mission.  I do not like the competitive nature of autograph collecting that is, at times, seen in the community. This is not about how many autographs someone has; it's about working together and sharing information so we can all add to our collections.

Now, a bit of housekeeping so we can keep things going in the right direction.

I commissioned award-winning artist Kevin Liell to design my original logo in 2013 and he was kind enough to make the updates to reflect the new name. As we were initially brainstorming a character for the logo, I thought of a line of dialogue that I could tie into collecting.  Within seconds I remembered General Grievous' line "Your lightsabers will make a fine addition to my collection."  At that moment I knew it had to be Grievous. The Star Wars Autograph News tagline will "Your autographs will make a fine addition to my collection." This line is my way of showing respect to the signers for their part in bringing Star Wars to life.

In addition to not representing my mission the name Star Wars Autograph Collection was simply a very long name, and an even longer email address.  The email address for Star Wars Autograph News is now swautograph@gmail.com.

When it comes to Social Media I try to have something for everyone.. Here is where you can find Star Wars Autograph News in Social Media.

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/StarWarsAutographNews

This is where most of my Social Media activity happens.  All newly published content to my site, podcast, and Youtube channel is shared directly to this page.  You will also find my convention photos here and photo albums featuring my other Star Wars passions, such as Star Wars Celebration memorabilia, Star Wars Comics, and Hasbro Black Series figures. I share stories of interest as they come across my desk, but everything I share comes from an official source: such as Starwars.com, Star Wars Rebels, EA Star Wars and celebrities, to name just a few. I welcome you to post messages to my wall but please do not post your autograph sales there.

This is my go-to app for sharing photos from conventions, or anything of interest to Star Wars fans that I come across in my daily travels.  It's set to automatically share to my site's Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr pages.

Twitter: @swautograph

If you have been following me on Twitter you know I tweet a lot.   While all content published on my website is automatically shared to my Twitter account, 99% of what I Tweet is from my Google Alerts settings. I have various Star Wars-related key words set for Alerts to find and automatically share to my Twitter account.  The vast majority of the Tweets are on topic and of interest to Star Wars fans.  Unfortunately, at times, it picks up stories that are not at all related to Star Wars, or inappropriate.  For instance, I deleted the key word "Autograph" because it was picking up people selling fraudulent autographs.  I've also had issues when my Alerts share stories of people who have the same name as a Star Wars celebrity (I had no idea just how common the name "John Williams" was until I set that alert.) I am continuing to use Google Alerts, but will be much more cautious going forward.
