Academy-Award winning makeup artist Rick Baker will be making an appearance at New York Comic Con this year. The event takes place at the Javits Center in New York October 3rd-6th.
Baker will be signing autographs on Friday, October 4th from 11:00-12:00 at Hall 1A Author Autographing Area – Table 2. Books will be available for sale for this signing, however it is currently unclear if he will be signing personal items and if so what the cost would be.
Baker will be doing a panel titled “Rick Baker: 50 Years of Makeup Mastery” that same afternoon from 3:00-4:00 in Room 1A21. The panel will be hosted by actor Vincent D’Onofrio. Here are the details from the NYCC website.
“Rick Baker is the winner of seven Academy Awards and is credited with revolutionizing makeup effects in the movie industry with some of the most celebrated monster and creature creations ever to grace the silver screen. His credits include An American Werewolf in London, Harry and the Hendersons, Michael Jackson’s Thriller, and the Men in Black franchise, on which he collaborated with Emmy-nominated actor Vincent D’Onofrio, star of such film and television hits as Full Metal Jacket, Ed Wood, The Cell, and Daredevil.
D’Onofrio and Baker will discuss their experience working together on Men in Black—which earned Baker an Academy Award for Best Makeup and D’Onofrio a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor—as well as the dozens of other projects from Baker’s forty-plus-year career covered in Rick Baker: Metamorphosis. The deluxe, two-volume hardcover, published by Cameron + Company and set for release on October 22, features over 1,600 images and original sketches, delving into the creative process of one of Hollywood’s most imaginative minds. This panel provides the unique opportunity to hear two Hollywood legends reflect in person on their own collaborations and share the inside stories of their experiences in the business of making movies.”
